Really great movie and explanation of what happened in 96. Jason Clarke does an outstanding job in this movie.

Not the most uplifting film, especially since it is a mountain climbing movie. Most everyone dies and they don’t even eat each other.

After you are so into the subject of climbing Everest and you read and watch everything out there, this won’t wow you. But it shows what a tragic expedition this was. Remember those who lead these expeditions don’t want deaths on their record because it reflects badly on their agency. I would never do something like this, it’s a death wish!

I don't think I've ever watched a movie and the next word I said were when I got home and realized that was actually the way it ended. (I have 2 brothers and my dad was with us, and they didn't say a word as well.) Emotionally dropping. Don't get your hopes up y'all, this one doesn't have a happy ending.

This is why you should climb mountains.

I've watched this movie a number of times. I think it does an excellent job of telling the story with realistic special effects.

I have read Krakauer's book three times as well as listened several times on Audiobooks. One of the scariest books ever! If you watch this movie several times over, you begin to see the strong connections to the book, even though the director and others say that "Into Thin Air" was not the source of the movie. It is authentic enough for you to sense the tragedy that took place on the mountain that day in 1996. Character development has to suffer in a movie of this length, but you still get a sense of each man (and woman, as there were several who were prominent), and their struggles with this menacing peak. Not perfect, but still one of my all-time favorites. (Full Disclosure: I have NEVER climbed a mountain!)

Not sure what is up with the so so reviews. This was an excellent descriptive of what it is like. Mountaineering is no joke. This movie tells the tale well.

I love it. Great movie

Good to about minute 35, then I thought better of all this. I read this book awhile ago and it was entertaining. This movie is okay, but brought about a lot of other moral crap that they shouldn’t. I'm disgusted that a millionaire (billionaire?) texan who abandons his family in order to climb a mountain which he ultimately can’t climb is shown to be some kind of hero. Ultimately he is rescued by heroic Nepalese pilots leaving behind other less fortunate (less rich people that can’t afford the amazing helicopter rescue by Nepalese pilots) to base camp. That made me think, why do I care about these white climbers or this story? They all paid $65K to put themselves into danger, just to climb a mountain? Ridiculous. Do you know how many starving people you could feed with that money? Maybe the people of Nepal? Hard to reconcile these things while watching the movie.
