Description

Pelé. A name known around the world, a sports legend who changed soccer forever, and a national hero who carried the hopes and dreams of a country on his back. But before he was an icon, he was a kid from the slums of São Paulo, Brazil, so poor that he couldn't afford a real soccer ball. Charting his meteoric rise — from scrubbing floors to support his family to honing his electrifying playing style on the streets to leading Brazil's national team to its first World Cup victory at the age of 17 — Pelé vividly brings to life the greatest sports story of the 20th century. With Vincent D'Onofrio and Brazilian musical star Seu Jorge.

The movie for the masses and a movie to forget your troubles. Don’t see it for perfection in movie making, but see it for the way humans achieve greatness when presented with a chance. The story of Pele inspires every child who has a dream and this film gives you every bit the reason to continue the dream.

Pele is the best movie I have ever seen!I was expecting a little,”kid grows up in a rich family gets a high education and becomes the best soccer player of the year”but Pele shows that the creators really have a strong sense of what they are doing and I would recommend it to everyone!

The acting was at times not as good as you would think, but Pele is an all time legend and if you can't appreciate how this movie relays his life, then you are completely insane. It wasn't meant to be an amazing drama involving futbol, it was the story of a legend and the struggle he went through to get where he got. This movie was truly amazing! Thank you Pele for changing the game for the better :)!!!

  • a sports film for the post colony

This was a brilliant and sly deployment of postcolonial themes within the traditional form of the sports cliche film. What is it that makes a nation or an individual great? What makes a nation or an individual free? Is the first step to real postcolonial freedom the recovery of the thing that liberated the nation in the first place? I loved the way that the rebel slaves’ martial arts were presented as the African heart and soul of the true Brazil.

My husband loved it and so did I! I learned about a piece of football history and all I can say is that it was beautiful. I recommend anyone who loves soccer (football) to watch it too!

Great movie! I don't understand why the critics gave it such a low score. Family oriented movie about a soccer legend. I am not even a Pele fan!
