Description

Tom Brady, a 6 time Superbowl champion quarterback, was accused of deflating footballs to gain an advantage in an AFC championship game. An accusation of a minor equipment violation quickly dominated the national headlines for months and public opinion against him solidified. However, serious scientists and other legal experts began to question the allegations. Four Games in Fall challenges the prevailing public perception that Tom Brady cheated, and exposes the tactics that were used to manipulate the media and scientific inquiry to manipulate public opinion.

This may seem like a documentary made for Patriot fans. But it actually extends beyond sports. The subject matter concerning big business, science for hire, and manipulation of the media is thoughtfully and objectively discussed. If you love the Patriots, hate the Patriots, or are not even a sports fan yet concerned about how businesses can manipulate public opinion this is a must watch. Truly eye opening.

This is a must-watch for any fan of the Patriots, football, or just the truth in general. Even if you're not a Pats fan, you will appreciate the way this documentary goes behind the curtain of the NFL, and shows the truth about media manipulation, science for hire, and journalistic integrity. You will see many different viewpoints, with interviews with lawyers, scientists and sports journalists. This gives the documentary a very balanced view at not just the Deflategate scandal, but the backroom happenings of the entire NFL organization.

This film looks at the Deflategate controversy involving Tom Brady and the Patriots, bit it’s not just a film about football. The people interviewed are some heavy hitters in journalism and science, as well as in the field of law. It’s really an expose about how misinformation is created and becomes part of the popular culture. The film also takes a serious dive into how science is deliberately manipulated to support a particular point of view and explains why that’s so dangerous. Overall, this film takes what some people might think of as a frivolous topic - Deflategate - and uses it to show how public perception is manipulated, often to our detriment.
