Description

It is twenty-thousand years ago. The Earth is a wondrous, prehistoric world filled with danger, not the least of which is the beginning of the Ice Age. To avoid a really bad frostbite, the planet's majestic creatures - and a few small, slothful ones - begin migrating south. The exceptions are a woolly mammoth named Manfred, and a terminally lazy sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo). When Sid "adopts" Manfred (Ray Romano) as his protector, the mammoth tries everything he can to unload his newfound baggage. But that's only the beginning of his frustrations: Manny has been roped by Sid into helping reunite an abandoned human baby named Roshan (Goran Visnjic) with his family. They are joined by Diego (Denis Leary), a sinister saber-toothed tiger who befriends Sid and Manny, all the while seeing the infant as a tasty treat. As Sid, Manny and Diego make their way across the vast, ice-covered landscape, another creature, a prehistoric squirrel/rat known as Scrat, tries desperately to carry out his mission in life - to bury an acorn - which, alas, triggers calamitous events.

  • 1 Of The Best Animated Movies Ever, Especially The Sequels

I’ve been watching “Ice Age 1” on & off since I was a little kid. I loved it because the movie was so much fun to much. However, when I started watching the sequels, each made me laugh more & more because like the adventures in “Ice Age 1”, the adventures in the sequels get better each time. Hopefully, I can say the same again if a 6th installment ever happens.

I was scared to watch this because of the squirrel bitting the ice. My parents forced me to watch this, then it was great. This is one of my favorite movies now!

This movie is great, but is it just me or does the trailer animation look poor? I mean it looks like those youtube videos of how the CGI animations look like BEFORE it’s actually perfected to look natural

This movie is is great fun and can be enjoyed by people of all ages! There are enough quippy lines to interest teens and adults. Kids will love Sid the Sloth, Scrat the Squirrel/Rat, and, of course, the baby. Who doesn't like it when rough, tough guys are taken out of their comfort zone to deal with infants? There is a little bit of toilet humor. The message of the story is that a family looks out for everyone in it. Regarding violence, Scrat gets stepped on, smacked, and run into multiple times, some dodos fall off cliffs and into slime pits - typical cartoon violence. However, the saber-tooth tigers are out to get revenge on a group of cave-men for killing half their pack. The lead tiger is determined to capture and eat the chief's baby son, and there is a skirmish between the men and the tigers. The chief's wife runs away with the baby; and is chased to a waterfall, down into which she jumps with the baby. Eventually, she is found by Sid and Manny, hands them her baby, and is washed away. We presume she died. There is a fight between the saber-tooths and our heroes, and one character is thought to die, but doesn't. When walking through an ice cave, Sid is scared by some monsters frozen in the ice. I first saw this when I was five, and was not scared by any of it. I did not catch any bad language. Sid briefly flirts with two female sloths. In summary, it's a very enjoyable movie! Probably, age 4+. P.S. See if you can find the Star Trek reference!
