I would love to buy this but 12.99 is a deal breaker

Very entertaining! Love the Harryhausen effects. Love the Civil War setting! Plus: Exploding islands,giant bees and Captain Nemo. What's not to like? Best of all, the music by Bernard Herrmann makes every scene a success!

Not the best of the many Verne and Wells movie adaptations made in the 1950s and 60s (that would be The Time Machine, War of the Worlds and Journey to the Center of the Earth), but pretty charming and entertaining if you're a fan of the genre like me. Fun special effects and very good Ray Harryhausen stop-motion creatures win out over the weak script and stiff acting. Herbert Lom makes for an okay Nemo, though he and the Nautilus don't show up until near the end. And then there's the incomparable Joan Greenwood, the most British of British actresses of the era, who's a hoot.

Good movie but where is the widescreen version?

You know what, Godzilla88....you're right. "HOW CAN TOU NOT LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!1" It's based off a Jules Verne novel (loved his books) and has effects done by Ray Harryhausen. 'nuff said. By the way monster fans, did you know Apple has just uploaded King Kong? Just check it out!

This is not a classic. The acting is wooden and even Rey Harrihousin special effects can help this mess. Perhaps if the writers had stayed closer to the book this film would have worked.

This is one Harryhausen's best stop motion monster movies. If you like stop motion monster movies, BUY IT! I COMMAND YOU!!!

I think this movie was fantastic for it's time, I have it on my ipod, and its good to watch on road trips (my opinion). Rent it first, then buy.
