A Touch of Sin

Enjoyed but kept wondering when things would lie together. They never did. Also, had to take with a grain of salt whether scenes are representative of life in China. Some scenes seemed plausible, others not so much. But still had a good time watching it.

Not for the animal lovers or squeamish. Tough lower class and migrant workers world of today in the third and fourth tier cities and villages. Comparable to our worst ghetto and white trash world environment where hard working people lose their bearings and strike out in violence against the conditions surrounding them. Very naturalistic, extreme, and headlines we see and read when only the worst of China is sent our way. Never a sign of normal life, the middle class, a day of happiness, or even the possibility of joy and success. It is very well done filmmaking, however the photography framing of action seems to have sacrificed the lower third sometimes when there are objects and action that should or could be composed in the frame. It could be an imposition of aspect ration post-prodcution, but it is annoying that you can't see what is important to many scenes. Give it a whirl. It's their next generation best director (sixth gen, I think). After this, I'd like to see him do something of the upper class or middle class. He'll make a great film if he doesn't get lost trying to send a message.
