  • Too pricey for the whole set

This $33.99 is way overpriced when it can be watched for free on you tube and rented for free at any library. I'd like to see more about whats really possible as far as experiencing the universe. I mean if everything is made up of wavelengths why not replicate the experience as a hologram in a dome
  • Remedial Science

    2

If you've ever taken a high school science class, the everything in this show will be redundant. Instead of tackling interesting, cutting edge questions, the show's creators seem to want to focus more on remedial science questions. An example is the episode on The Mysteries of the Moon: instead of exploring how the moon was created or the mysterious composition of our satellite, the show instead dedicates it's time to hard hitting topics like why the same side of the moon always faces the earth. And to make it worse, the information isn't even really up to date, and seldom reflects current thought or new discoveries. The boring, simplistic science on this show is made even worse by the bad attempts to make it seem exciting; a feat accomplished through low production value special effects, dramatic voice overs and computerized images and stock video that have almost zero relation to what is actually being discussed other than looking "spacey". If iTunes had an option to return a purchase, I would return this in a heartbeat.

  • The Universe in HD!

All the seasons that are avaiable for download are really good, but now (although slightly more expensive), you get both the high definition version and standard version in season 3! The HD version will not sync to your Ipod, but the standard version will. The HD version can be watched on your computer, even if you don't have an HD compatible graphics card (it just won't be as clear and crisp). I hope I'm not overstating this, but you get BOTH versions when you select a single episode from SEASON 3 (Season 3 only). This whole series is a mind bending trip into the cosmos. Near and far, it tries (and succeeds for the most part) in explaining our Universe as we know it in layman's terms. "Parallel Universes" will challenge your mind and may leave you, like me, watching it again, and again. While I am a big fan of Carl Sagan and his series "Cosmos", I honestly believe this series blows his away. It has more up to date information and the graphics are much, much better. Hold onto your seat, you're in for a treat! GREAT SERIES...congrats to the History channel for not only producing this, but making it available for download!

This is a great series. If you have any interest in astronomy this is a fantastic series; I urge you to watch at least a few of the shows - I think you'll be hooked after that. Each show explores a different topic and they manage to present very esoteric subject matter in a very understandable manner (in other words you don't need to be an astrophysicist to understand what they're talking about). As much as I enjoy the show in and of itself, it's also fun to observe the scientists on the show light up with enthusiasm when discussing a point. They all really seem to know their stuff (as much as I can tell anyway) and enjoy the opportunity to present their information on the show. Would be a great show for a young, aspiring astronomer/scientist! Well done History Channel!
  • The only show I watch religiously on iTunes

I'm a heavy iTunes user, and a lover of watching TV when I want to watch it - this show by far is my favorite. Not only do they mix high quality graphics, but they also pin science against quality narration. Each episode is unique, with thorough details on the subject and a stellar cast of respected scientists who love their subject. If you love Sci-Fi, you'll love the real thing in the Universe.

The first two seasons were great. However, now they are really reaching for something new, yet accessible.
