"Frank (Ben Kingsley) loves his job: hit-man for his Polish mob family in Buffalo. But Frank's drinking causes him to blow a key assignment, so his uncle (Philip Baker Hall) sends him to San Francisco to get clean. Frank isn't the touchy-feely kind. But AA meetings introduce him to a sponsor (Luke Wilson), and at a job at a mortuary, he falls for the tart-tongued Laurel (Téa Leoni), a woman dangerously devoid of boundaries. Back home, an upstart Irish gang threatens the family business. When violence erupts, Frank returns home and with an unlikely assist from Laurel, faces old rivals on new terms."
