This movie is so disrespectful. Hollywood has a long history of telling inaccurate stories based on the lives of fictional and non fictional people of color. To add insult to injury they caste Zoe who, even though is a women of color, doesn't consider herself a black woman, to play this role in black face. Anyone who knows and loves Nina Simone knows she was unapologetically black and sacrificed her career based on that pride. This movie disrespects her memory and legacy. Watch what happened Miss Simone on Netflix for a more accurate account of her life which was also produced by Nina's daughter. Save your money

I don't understand why the writer changed the story about Nina? This story seems fictional. The relationship between the main characters cannot be true. So disappointed

The movie has its up's and down's, it is pretty much a documentary. Zoe was good, but the fact that her face is painted and she is wearing a costume forcing herself to fit on the character, makes the film looks poor and unprofessional. The musical arrangements were really good, but overall, the film takes nowhere. Being Zoe or Jennifer Hudson as Nina, it'll still be a 2.1 star movie!

Don't waste your time or money on this piece of crap. What happened the documentary on Netflix instead, "What happened, Miss Simone."

Although this movie seems to be about real-life events, it was boring to me. So, I turned the movie off. The movie wasn't a "good fit" for Zoe"s talents; or, perhaps the script wasn't a "good fit" for her? This moevie might be a good for those who are in the mood for docu-drama.

Zoe Saldana really gives it her all in this biopic on the incomparable Nina Simone. Yes, I'd heard all about the controversy before but wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Glad I rented it and gave it a chance. Zoe and David are wonderful together and really play off each other well. And man, Zoe can sing! She isn't doing an impersonation of Nina. That would be a mistake. She's jut giving her all to Nina's music and her voice is just beautiful. Give it a go and enjoy learning a bit more about the amazing life of Nina Simone. You won't be disappointed.

Zoe was amazing as Nina. She embodies everything that is Nina and she sounds amazing singing as well. She's a phenomenal actress. Despite the media coverage of this film over the make up and so called black face I think everyone should give it a try, and you might see this film for what it truly is a beautiful work of art.
