Janey Makes a Play

This documentary was very well done and enjoyable. It left me with a smile on my face!

I’ll admit that I’m partial because I grew up in the area, but really wish there were more films (and television) like Janey Makes a Play - with good old-fashioned real life stories for the world to see. Maybe we’d have less violence and more community if this type of entertainment was the norm?! Either way, it was very enjoyable, has some great laughs, interesting characters, plus some very hard working, determined, and creative people (including Janey)! You can’t help but love cute little Janey and want to adopt her as your Mom/Gram! Highly recommend sharing with extended families and kids of all ages (1-90!).

You will laugh. You will cry. You will be welcomed into a beautifully told story about Janey, small town America, Economics, and the power of community. Director Jared Callahan hit a home run.

I can’t believe this is on iTunes!! I LOVE this film. It’s a love letter to theatre and to the bay area! I’ve seen it twice so far and it’s only gotten better and better. There’s even little hidden gems stashed away in some scenes that I didn’t notice the first time. And Janey never gets old! Haha! Not a single person would call this film anything but ‘delightful’, which is how I would describe it. Just the right balance of heart and heartbreak. It played at the Arena theatre in Hollywood a little while ago, and I invited some friends who couldn’t make the showing. I was pretty bummed out, cause it was one of the best movies I’d seen in a while! Now they can watch it anyway! Watch this film!! You’re going to adore it, I guarantee you.-Five Stars

I grew up in just a short drive from Rio Vista. What a great story and should be familiar to anyone to anyone that has found their voice through the arts or community involvement.

awesome doc - super interesting city and group of people. subjects are full of life, great characters. unique story with a heartbreakingly beautiful ending.
