Description

Viva stars Héctor Medina as Jesus, a young hairdresser working at a Havana nightclub that showcases drag performers, who dreams of being a performer himself. Encouraged by his mentor, Mama (Luis Alberto García), Jesus finally gets his chance to take the stage. But when his estranged father Angel (Jorge Perugorría) abruptly reenters his life, his world is quickly turned upside down. As father and son clash over their opposing expectations of each other, Viva becomes a love story as the men struggle to understand one another and reconcile as a family.

another film forcing material equality through feminism at $15. a poorly written plot driving pure and lively promise while delivering nothing more than dissapointment and humility regarding the human race in its entirety.

Some movies can take a familiar but important theme and make it seem fresh again. What impressed me the most was the acting. Everyone gave well thought out performances. The drag queens weren't too much, they were people with histories. The brutish father had just enough humanity to create empathy by the end. Jesus .....well, you get the idea. Well made and worth every penny.

I really enjoyed watching this movie, definitely worth the 5 stars. The actors played their roles to a T. It was sad as well, the struggles ViVa went through was something else. OMG and the things he put himself to do and survive in order to put food on the table was incredible.

An excellent story about a father and son trying to understand one another. Also export is the differences between the family are born into and the family you make. Embrace your true self.
