Description

A serial killer's curse unleashes a season of slaughter in the backwoods of Mississippi. According to an ancient Guatemalan tradition, parents teach their children to allay their troubles by telling them to handmade 'worry dolls' just before bedtime. But when several of these talismans — which once belonged to a notorious mass murderer — find their way into the hands of unsuspecting residents of a small Southern town, it sets off a grisly wave of bloodshed. The latest from Rites of Spring director Padraig Reynolds is a voodoo-slasher shocker bursting with scarily inventive kills.

This isn’t the same-old horror storyline that’s been so overdone in the past. Although some great visuals from the classics were added to evoke horror memories, it’s really a fresh and bold look into this genre. Along with great acting, camera work, and effects, The Devil’s Dolls excellent story resonance had me wanting to see it again. Highly recommend!

  • Starts out strong, and fizzles into basic garbage

Do not go by the first 10 minutes of this movie, which set the stage for what one might think will be a great and intensly satisfying horror film. What you get is a simplistic, sophomoric exercise in futility by untalented film makers and a cast that should know better. One of the worst disappointments in recent memory.

With more ham than a German delicatessen and more cliches you can shake a stick at, this is in-doll-erable.
  • Fast, fun ride!

I rented this because of the stars it had. Very big mistake. I have never ever written a review but this was such a waste of my time. Please don't make my mistake. Terrible acting.

You could tell it was going to be corny from the start. Acting was terrible. So slow most of the time. Did not jump/was not scared. I can't believe I spent $6.99 on this.
  • Amazing work.

The Devil's Dolls is a well-made horror film with an interesting hook, concerning a serial killer whose evil is transferred into a set of "worry dolls", which then passes into any poor unfortunate person who comes into possession of them. The film is very well shot, with good performances and some great visual nods to various horror classics sprinkled throughout that genre fanboys will surely love. Well worth checking out for horror fans and casual viewers alike.

Writer/director Padraig Reynolds has made another horror movie, and it's every bit as creepy, suspenseful and unnerving as his first feature, RITES OF SPRING. His understanding of how to involve moviegoers in his suspense makes you feel like you're going through the story with his characters, and he's a master of ratcheting up the fear as his story unfolds. I look forward to more of his works! Download THE DEVIL'S DOLLS and watch it tonight!
