They are using military vets with mental disabilities who lose it on their families and then blame the gun. The guy would have tried to kill you with a butter knife. Stop blaming the gun. To answer your question, yes, you should have shot your estranged husband. He already assaulted you once. I'm truly sorry for the hurt and heartache that you went through, but if he's not seeking help then why would you let yourself and your family be in harms way. This is what the 2nd amendment is for. Having to use it against a loved one is not the best thing but, the choice you made to help him almost got you killed and that would be far less fair than him dying.
  • Polemic Nonsense

Before this "documentary" was made, the director/producer promised a polemic screed attacking the NRA. He succeeded. Any semblance of a balanced investigation into problems and solutions is notably absent. Instead, the focus is on blind emotion and twisted logic culminating in a demand that the US Government "do something" to infringe upon the rights of the American people. Never mentioned is the fact that our rights are natural and unalienable; the government has no legal power to infringe upon those rights. The NRA is no impediment whatsoever in the screed's demanded action. The real obstacle is the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The NRA merely defends those revered documents.

I cancelled my NRA membership years ago when Pres. Bush did, but have not follwed them that closely since. I had no idea what monsters that once-great organization had become. They really exist solely to benefit gun manufacturers and their own board of directors now.

Regardless of your views of gun control, you should see this movie. This is not an anti-2nd amendment movie. Regardless of your thoughts, It’s important to listen to both sides of the story, and this movie does a great job of showing both. This is not a so-called “liberal agenda” movie. Rather, it is an avenue for families impacted by gun violence to share their stories outside of the media, where sound bites rule. Like many/most documentaries, it does feel a little long at times.

Here's a great film documentary the NRA and the Firearms Industry wants to suppress. 30,000 deaths a year in the USA. 91 human lives snuffed out each day with guns. The Film title says it all. This is BIG business and the profits generated are astounding. The Business plays off of fear and paranoia. We need to hold them accountable. This film is excellent, but while the bodies keep piling up, the NRA's minions in Congress are trying hard to bury this movie so the money keeps flowing to their bloody hands.

If you are worried about gun violence in America, this is the film to see to learn WHY so much of it is happening. Spoiler - the main reason is that a small 1% of the NRA and gun companies are making billions off of gun sales. This film shows both the impact of that on all types of American families - and exposes the politics and profit motives behind our national epidemic. Thanks, Brave New Films, for this critical look into the world of guns in America!

Making A Killing highlights 5 different kinds of gun violence: domestic violence, children who are unintentionally shot because of lack of safe storage, Chicago and gun trafficking laws, suicide which surprisingly makes up 2/3rds of gun related deaths, and lastly mass shootings highlighting Aurora. Each of these sections is told through intense and personal stories, so we see and feel the effect this kind of violence has had on a wide spectrum of people, and illustrating the real fear we all hold now that potential gun violence is all around us, every day. And around every corner, the NRA is there spending money to block common sense gun laws to secure the profits for the gun manufacturers and themselves. We see how politicians are in the pocket of the NRA and how the NRA is against things the majority of their members are for, so who are they really representing? There are tons of stats in this film to stock your own arsenal against anyone who may want to argue about common sense gun laws. It is intense but important, and perhaps even more importantly there are all kinds of things you can actually do to get involved and make a difference instead of just get mad and sit on the couch. Check it out and check out their website, there are a ton of great resources available to make a difference today.
