Description

DANGER CLOSE follows freelance female war reporter Alex Quade and her mission to tell “soldiers' stories” during a series of unprecedented embeds with both Conventional Forces and US Special Operations Forces (SOF) at the height of the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Alex is bound and determined to compete the mission, even when on one airborne assault and ensuing rescue attempt, she nearly loses her life trying to tell the stories of these Heroes. During one highly-classified combat mission in Iraq, she would embed with a Green Beret A Team that had just lost their Combat Engineer, Green Beret SSG Rob Perelli. When an injured Alex ends up back in the States to rehab and prepare to redeploy, little does she know just how pivotal her redeployment would become. Through a series of compelling events and a fated meeting with Rob Pirelli’s family, her return to Iraq turns into the mission of a lifetime.

  • Garbage, a "look how tough reporters are" film, that forgets to actually tell stories of soldiers

I turned off the "documentary" when she (the reporter) talked about this huge decision she had to make...whether to remain a "protected journalist", or whether to help american troops (who were providing her security) with ammunition reload. Which is a stupid "decision" when you consider she's American, and the soldiers are american. What american wouldn't help the soldiers in a scenario like this? Ridiciulous.

Courage, brotherhood, and valor are just some of the key points you will witness in Danger Close. This engaging raw footage documentary shows the journey of war reporter Alex Quade venturing to show and uphold the legacy and spirit of the soldiers she encounters. One legacy she upholds in particular is that of fallen Green Beret Staff Sergeant Robert Pirelli. After getting sent home from an injury and promising to ensure the preservation of Combat Outpost Pirelli, the outpost constructed by Pirelli himself, to Pirelli’s family, Quade is lauched into a trying journey to keep her promise. Watching her journey and the soldier’s day-to-day lives unfold is an experience you will not forget. I recommend this to anyone looking for an honest perspective and engaging documentary that highlights valor and unity.

I was truly amazed by how authentic and insightful Danger Close was. The film follows Alex Quade, an accomplished female war reporter, as she traverses across Iraq on a mission to tell the story of how Staff Sgt. Robert Pirelli lost his life and the legacy that he left behind. Combining unprecedented access and raw footage, Alex Quade makes the viewer feel like they are right there next to her as she embeds herself within Special Operation Forces in an effort to document their courage and bravery while simultaneously bringing closure to the Pirelli family. This heart-warming film highlights brotherhood, valor, and the importance of leaving a legacy that others can still carry on. This is definitely a must see!

The directors of Citizen Soldier return with another uncensored look into military life. This time they work with award-winning, female journalist Alex Quade to tell the story of fallen soldier Rob Pirelli. Quade interviews family members, past team members and travels hundreds of miles through Iraq to return to the outpost Pirelli built and uphold his legacy. The raw footage from combat missions is exciting and the interviews are heartwarming. Danger Close is a great tribute to the men and women in our military and worth a watch.

The documentary Danger Close shows just how much of a bond is formed between American troops while oversees. Raw footage taken by Alex Quade shows the love and support that our soldiers have for each other and their country. The sacrifices that they are making and the daily dangers that they go through are seen through a personal camera that Quade brought along for her unprecedented access spent with special forces units in Iraq and Afghanistan. The uncensored footage shows how much our military work together in efforts to protect America and brotherhood. I'd suggest this effective film for all interested in the hard truths of brotherhood.

Danger Close is an engaging documentary about award winning reporter Alex Quade as she tells the story of fallen Green Beret soldier Rob Pirelli. All the footage is uncensored, visceral, and shot solely by Quade. Because I love learning about our troops, I was really satisfied with how director’s David Salzburg and Christian Tureaud told the stories of Pirelli and the other soldiers through Quade’s footage. Though all the footage is raw and shot during alarming times and dangerous war zones, they were able to weave a clearly told story, therefore I recommend this to documentary lovers.

My personal choice for most authentic film of this year has to be Danger Close. Freelance war reporter Alex Quade’s journey through Iraq to honor fallen soldier Rob Pirelli was as heartwarming as it was inspirational. Seeing someone go to such great lengths to honor our troops who very frequently serve unnoticed brought a smile to my face. This documentary highlights the brave men who serve in our Armed Forces and the brotherhood that unites them. I admit that I did tear up as I watched Pirelli’s family finally see footage of the combat outpost that he spent so much time and effort building for his platoon. I have nothing but good things to say about this film. If you enjoy cinema that is not only entertaining but also illuminates the uncompromising efforts our troops, I would recommend this documentary.

While watching Danger Close, I experienced the same “eyes glued to the screen, not wanting to miss a moment” feeling as I did last year with Citizen Soldier. The raw footage displayed on the big screen practically grabbed my hand and brought me to Iraq/Afghanistan, witnessing live combat and experiencing the fear and uncertainty the soldiers must have had. Their sheer bravery and willingness to sacrifice everything for their country thousands of miles away was palpable and ignited the ultimate nationalistic emotions in all viewers. Great representation of what our soldiers experience overseas and a greater story. This is a must-see.

Award-winning journalist Alex Quade travels with U.S. Special Ops forces to assist fallen soldier Sgt. Rob Pirelli’s family in obtaining closure by visiting the site where Pirelli served during the war in Afghanistan. The film is a perfect balance of suspense and authenticity that gives you an uncensored look at both the accomplishments of Rob Pirelli and a glimpse into the real daily lives of our men and women who serve for our country with visceral footage of actual events. This film offers a front row seat to the journey that Quade withstood to honor their fallen soldier. If you’re looking for an alluring and engaging film about family, unity and legacy; Danger Close is for you.
