Description

SING STREET takes us back to 1980s Dublin seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy named Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who is looking for a break from a home strained by his parents’ relationship and money troubles, while trying to adjust to his new inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious, über-cool and beautiful Raphina (Lucy Boynton), and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band’s music videos. There’s only one problem: he’s not part of a band…yet. She agrees, and now Conor must deliver what he’s promised - calling himself “Cosmo” and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the decade, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos. Inspired by writer/director John Carney’s (ONCE, BEGIN AGAIN) life and love for music, SING STREET shows us a world where music has the power to take us away from the turmoil of everyday life and transform us into something greater.

Hilarious. It keeps you laughing the entire way, and I love kinda making fun of their accents. It's a great movie and everyone should watch it

I saw la la land and thought "man this is the movie of the year." Then I saw Sing Street. Wonderful acting, great director, and music you could enjoy without the movie. It was a all around good movie. Jack Reynor was my favorite.

This was a heartfelt story that I thought was wonderful. The acting was great and the music even better. It took me back to my high school days. My 14 year old even thought it was wonderful and he is very hard to please with movies that are not about war. Great job!!!

What a film! It has it all-story, music and brilliant acting/directing. They just don't make them like this anymore. I was blown away and you will be too.

Honestly I went into watching this movie with no prior knowledge of John Carney or the movie itself. All I knew is that the movie's description sounded like an intriguing story, so I decided to watch it. Let me just say that this is my favorite movie in the world right now. The story! The soundtrack! The actors! The cinematography! I've watched this movie 3 times in the last week of knowing it existed. I've also downloaded the entire soundtrack as it's amazing! Please don't skip out on this film because it's not the most well known. You won't regret it. It's bloody fantastic.

So much of this movie reminds me of the great brat pack movies of the '80s, yet set in Dublin...and a musical. This is a great find, as I can't remember ever seeing any ads or promotion for this movie. Great casting, acting and a fun storyline make this entirely enjoyable.
