I hate when Hollywood ruins a good true life story. From making up Allen’s son, to making Reagan sound like a racist. Why can’t Hollywood tell stories like it happen.

Amazing story, so well told. You won’t regret watching this movie. It’s captivating and left tears in my eyes.

This movie is absolutely amazing. It's beautiful and heartwrenching and just wow. I love the way they portrayed slavery, the civil rights movement, black/latino segregation in a way that doesn't 'water' it down. Most of these negative reviews are (sadly, white) people who get offended at the mere reminder of slavery and injustice. Y'all need to realize that this HAPPENED and getting offended when POC's bring it up is stupid, insensitive, and illogical. Racism still runs rampant in our society, and we're gonna need as many people as we can to fight it. 100% would watch again.

I loved this film from 😿 beginning to end.

We seem only upset when liberties are taken towards a certain view... It was well done. Yes, SOME entertainment liberties were taken, and yet it was WELL DONE! We have such a hard time confronting the race complexities and history of this country.

This was a great movie

Cast is superb. Still not sure why the Oscars snubbed this gem. Oprah puts on one of her best performances ever and story takes you through more than 4 decades of White House staff.

This was an excellent movie . Two sides For every mans struggle . This movie has depth. I'm glad I finally watched it . It's a long one but worth every penny.

I am in complete shock at the other comments, this movie was good! People are complaining about "race baiting" and trying to make whites feel "guilty" which is hilarious, this movie is about the journey of a butler who was raised as a house slave and served eight presidents in his life! And what he had to go through! His son was part of the civil rights movement so of course their going to include the blunt and obvious racism that blacks had to face back in that era, it's not trying make whites "feel guilty" ( if you guys are even capable of that) it was just including the facts. The movie was based off this butlers life and racism just happened to be a part of it duh? I think Whitaker did an excellent job.... Oprah.... She tried her best. This movie is touching and sweet and it made me cry especially at the end when he met Obama and granted I hate Obama, but I was happy for the butler cause growing up on a plantation to seeing the first U.S "black" president must have been special for him. Watch the movie it's great.
