I went into it thinking it would be quite bland but after watching it I fully regret saying it. The movie showed so much depth in the Carol’s relationships. Truly one of my favorite movies now.

Wow. I felt the emotions shared between these two incredible women. At about 30 mins in, I thought to myself how I wish it would never end. I could watch their story forever. The ending was perfect. This film made me remember what it feels like. What it feels like to actually love, lose, and be torn between wanting to chance the heartache all again, or simply walk away.

This movie is about a time not very far removed from our own, when people were still getting shock therapy and being disowned for being gay or lesbian in the United States. It is also about discovering who you are and learning to live with that reality and deal with it, given the choices society forces us to make. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara give mesmerizing performances that make you believe they are not fictional characters. The other actors also give everything they have, to great effect, especially Kyle Chandler and Sarah Paulson. Everything about this movie is classy - from the intelligent and perfectly modulated script, to the acting, to the direction and cinematography, and to Carter Burwell's wonderful original score. See this movie, and you'll be moved.
