Blind is a truly amazing movie about two people in their 40's who go through major transitions that bring them to a new level of awareness and connection of the heart. Demi Moore’s acting is a brilliant tour de force - subtle, emotional and powerful , like great live theater. The screenplay, acting, direction, cinematography, editing, and production are all exceptional. Whoever was responsible for promoting this film should be ashamed. I only heard about it because a friend mentioned it in passing. Like one of W. Somerset Maughm's best short stories, Blind is full of subtleties that are easy to miss. Watch it more than once and you will see what I mean. People who think this is about romance are missing the point. Blind is about self development and fulfillment achieved through suffering and personal change in the forties, learning to see oneself and others for real, not in your imagination, and ultimately to feel from the heart. Suzanne Dutchman (Demi Moore) thinks she is happy until she realizes that her life with her husband - a highly manipulative investor with no respect for anyone or anything - is essentially just an empty deal with no real love. Doing community service as part of a plea deal to resolve wrongdoing by her husband, she reads to a brilliant novelist, Bill Oakland (Alec Baldwin) who was blinded in a car accident. Various events unfold that shatter Suzanne’s assumptions and force her to re-evaluate who she is and what she wants. The film is about the decision she ultimately makes. Blind is a finely crafted masterpiece, without doubt one of the best movies I have seen. All the actors are superb. Dylan McDermott’s masterful portrayal of Suzanne’s manipulative husband packs a punch. Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of the blind writer Bill Oakland is an astonishing achievement - brilliant, moving and heart wrenching. Demi Moore deserves special recognition for bringing the character Suzanne to life with such depth and soul. In Blind, she is in her element as a great actress and artist, not a "movie star.” Blind shows what Baldwin and Moore can do when they have a chance to be the actors they are capable of being. This film deserves to be strongly promoted. Blind is one of the few films that really deserves top industry awards for the screenplay, direction and acting, especially Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore for their amazing performances.

This movie wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. Maybe because I had no expectation, it couldn’t let me down. Honestly I loved it. It touched me. I don’t know about critically acclaimed but it’s a great romance movie. Also it’s a different performance for Demi and Alec. I really enjoyed it.
