Poor, neglected Ella (Caron) dreams a life that she may never have. Her wishes come true when her fairy godmother (Elsa Lanchester--Bride of Frankenstein) appears to help her. Rather than magical, Ella's godmother is wacky, harmless and a bit of a kleptomaniac. But somehow, Ella makes it to the ball, enraptures her Prince Charming (Michael Wilding)... and lives happily ever after.
