In 1965 and 1968 Bandstand celebrated two of the world's most sought after acts, broadcasting live performances of legendary American crooner Roy Orbison and country-influenced rock and roll duo The Everly Brothers. Live at Chequers Night Club, one of the top cabaret venues in Australia, The Everly Brothers ply their steel-string guitar sound and indelible vocal talents to a set which includes: Lucille, Walk Right Back, Suzi Q, Wake Up Little Suzy, Cathy's Clown, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Bye Bye Love, So Sad (To Watch True Love Grow Bad), Bowling Green, ('til) I Kissed You, Bird Dog, Let It Be Me, Be Bop A Lula and Kentucky. Riding on the wave of international success, Roy Orbison or 'The Big O' as many would call him, renowned for his distinctive voice and stirring ballads stepped up to the microphone to sing some of his all-time classics, including Pretty Woman, Mean Woman Blues, Pretty Paper, Blue Bayou and In Dreams. Also featuring performances by Bandstand regulars Dinah Lee, Janice Slater, Phil Lanham, Sharon Black and others, BANDSTAND LIVE is a classic tribute, celebrating the best of an Australian music institution in its glorious heyday.
