Description

A church destroyed. A congregation silenced. A relationship shattered. Yet even in life’s darkest valleys, a small flame can light the way toward healing and hope. A deadly fire rips through St. James Church, devastating the congregation and Pastor Dave. Adjoining Hadleigh University uses the tragedy to kick the congregation off campus. The escalating controversy creates a dilemma for the small church—can Christians fight for their rights and be the light for Christ at the same time? Facing a court case and his own struggle to see Christ’s light in heartbreak, Dave asks for help from Pearce, his estranged brother—a big-city lawyer and an atheist—to fight for the church’s right to exist. The family reunion opens old wounds, as the brothers wrestle with the questions that pulled them apart years ago: Is God really good all the time? Where is God when bad things happen? Can Christ really heal the brokenhearted? Pure Flix presents God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness—featuring a star-studded cast, including David A.R. White, John Corbett, Ted McGinley, Shane Harper, Jennifer Taylor, Benjamin Onyango, with special appearances by Dr. Cissy Houston and Tatum O’Neal.

  • Not Great, but not terrible

So far, out of the 4, soon to be 5 movies, this is the least terrible, though that could be due to the fact that this one really doesnt have much of a plot. But I dont think there were the usual strawman characters that have been in the other ones.

I mean trump has hardly anything Christian about him let alone messianic I heard the reviews were bad I’m starting to think they were right to be critical of orthodox Christian movies

God's Not Dead A Light in Darkness is the worst out of the troilgy, nothing really is happening in this movie at all. The acting is terrible, the cinematopgraphy is horrid and the production value, music, christian belives or reglion is non-fictional or dumb downed from this overrated enstallment in a trogily that serves no propose or cause is at to what christian belives are. There aren't any likable characters or even good acting it's just a disaster and if your a christian then fine like this movie.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Christian films and give them the respect they deserve in spite of what Rotten Tomatoes or other critics say about them. But trust me. There is a reason this movie bombed. I didn’t see it in theaters, but I did see it at home. I only saw the first 20 minutes and the last 45. But that’s all I needed to know that this film stinks. It’s extremely boring, mostly cause a lot of it revolves around college students who have nothing to do with the story at all. The drama that is supposed to deal with the story’s issues is basically there for filler and half the time isn’t relevant. And at the end, the climax of the story either makes no sense, or gave up being Christian to come up with some sort of Pope Francis unity message. In the end, it aims for dramatic and doesn’t succeed. And ends up unites with all the rest of culture by giving up its Christian values that made it inspiring in the first place. If you want an inspiring Christian movie that makes sense, check out Gods not Dead 1 or 2, or I Can Only Imagine, or PureFlix’s new film Unplanned, or the Kendrick Brothers new film Overcomer. But please, you’re time spent watching this movie would be better spent doing literally anything else. So please, don’t waste your time.

Although John Corbett makes an effort to pull this little train up the hill, he just wasn't given strong enough rope...unfortunately, just as its predecessors, the rope snaps and its crash n' burn. Script and directing is like painting by number. The idea of any chaos or hurdle to overcome is like burning your toast. It feels like the filmmakers grew up in suburban conservativille with an agenda. The lines they won't cross, even in making films, doesn't allow them to paint an interesting or believable journey. wow!

This movie is not propaganda! Who cares if they made for the believer? If they want to make a movie about Christianity then there's nothing wrong with that! Stop whining just because the bad guys an atheist who vandalized church property! Grow up!
