It's funny to see so many Americans burning because they didn't see their beloved flag in the movie. Very good movie

I had high hopes for a brilliant movie, and ended up very dissapointed. While there are some great scenes, the movie as a whole was very mediocre. The beginning was hard to follow, and there was little suspense. The ending was underwhelming.

This is a fantastic film. Slow, but compelling look at Neil Armstrong. To those who get so riled up about politics, guess what? There are so many shots throughout the film with the American flag. And guess what? It EVEN SHOWS THE FLAG ON THE MOON. Just because they don’t show them planting it doesn’t mean it’s “unpatriotic”. Grow up, toddlers.

The story itself is remarkable about a remarkable time. But, geez guys, just tell the story. Instead the filmmakers made the cinemetography the story with it's home video-like cheesy filming technique and dark rooms with the little beam of light over the characters and the retching into various vessels and the steam and the smoke and the unnecessary effects and the unbearble closeups of people's noses. Give me a break. It's distracting and annoying and pretentious. Only watched about the first 30 minutes then turned it off. Ugh! Waste of time.
  • A truly disappointing film

Don't waste your time or your money, I wish I hadn't. There are endless and gratuitously long scenes of a furrow-browed Gosling / Armstrong in loud, creaking, absurdly shaky vessels of one type or another looking like he might burst into tears at any moment. I'm going to speculate that the real Neil Armstrong did not look or act this way during any of the crisis moments he experienced in his flight career. Perhaps Gosling was trying to look focused and analytical, but to me, he always looked panicked and haunted. The film was light on details of the space program and the missions, and was rather, a character piece, making it all the more frustrating that most of the characters were presented as caricatures instead. Aldrin was villainized to the point of preposterousness, and other key players were presented as mere stick figures with no substance at all. The Armstrong in this film came off as cold, joyless, unbalanced, demon-haunted, rather than quiet, focused, introspective, self-possessed. I think it does the real Neil Armstrong a tremendous disservice. The film was overly long, and painfully disappointing.
  • Propaganda for Globalism

I’m thankful to see that a few others are as outraged as I am that Hollywood wants to downplay American successes. I’m hopeful that more monetary failures of this type will send the message to producers, writers and directors that advocates of freedom and liberty will boycott such mischaracterizations of history. For me, nothing the film could provide creatively could overcome such a misguided attempt at globalist apologetics. I am glad to say I never watched the film, thus I contributed whole heartedly towards its failure!

First Man is very stunning and visually entertaining telling the story of a true and epic piece of art. Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong was epic and fun to watch even all the visuals and solid acting this biopic is never to be missed!
