Description

In the middle of New Jersey exists a strange landscape of wetlands and wildlife migrations, garbage dumps and the ruins of industry, toxic waste sites and a river that tells the story of a civilization's new frontier. That is what seven young people have chosen to paddle through for 10 days, in canoes - A singular expedition, as romantic as it is political.

  • Fantastic film!

Thoughtful and beautiful, this film reflects upon modern life and wilderness through the story of a small group canoeing one of America’s urban waterways. It includes lots of memorable moments and observations from their trip through the New Jersey Meadowlands - with changing tides and weather, finding safe drinking water, picking camp sites that won’t flood, and unexpected questioning by the police and FBI. The film reminded me of the thought provoking films featured in the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, with a focus on adventure in an urban wilderness. Keep making more of these types of films!
