Description

Four years after South Korea's total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.

  • Man VS Man

Instead of zombies being the problem, it’s fallen man. They completely switched the story from the good of man working together to beat the zombies to weird psycho murder games with a little zombies.

The characters, plot, and shooting scenes are amazing! All the reviews I read said this movie bombed, but as the title says, I was surprised. Won’t spoil it, but I am in love with the end! Only reason I give it a 4, was bc most of the driving scenes were clearly CGI.
  • Tedious, Overwrought

When it’s not tedious and predictable, it’s ridiculously overwrought, unless it’s just desperate to top the original. The swelling, sappy soundtrack is laughable. On, second thought, the entire film is laughable. Although, it might be worthwhile to sit through and cheer on the zombies.

Besides some of the effects this is a quality movie. Whoever these actors are in 1 and 2 are on the right track.
  • What…happened? First movie started out strong!

The first Busan movie was excellent. Some dull points but excellent. Peninsula fell off a cliff without a parachute. The seriousness of the movie it started out for the first fifteen minutes was traded for a drastic cheapening of the script, with lame dialogue, and a screenplay which can’t decide whether it wants to be serious, dramatic, or campy. The confusion stalls the momentum of the movie. There are a few horror thriller movies that master all of these genres of cinema in just one film with skill and grace, even if it isn’t a perfect movie. Peninsula isn’t it.

Definitely worth the watch for any hardcore zombie fan. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride from beginning to end. Great 2nd part to the 1st movie. Enjoy!
