Ip Man: Kung Fu Master

I would like to spare you the horror of watching this movie! If you've seen all the other Ip Man movies, this one is nothing like it. It's so bad I had to look the other way some times. Felt embarressed to have suggested it. Ugh! DO NOT WATCH. Your welcome.

I’m all for taking some liberties with the facts to tell a good story but this movie is horrible. Yes, GM Ip Man was a Captain in the Foshan Police Force before the War but reality stops there. I could only make it 10 minutes into the movie before I had to turn it off for a few days. It was utterly ridiculous; even more so than Ip Man 4, which while total fiction, was still an entertaining story. I’m one of those English-only speakers who insists on watching foreign movies in their native language and just reads the sub-titles. Primarily because the English dubs are horrible and ruin an otherwise good movie. When I went back to watching this movie, I could only watch it in English as that at least made this more of a comedy. I can only stand the movie in 20 minute sections which I never do. The fight sequences are difficult to watch, the camera angle switches so often that it makes the fights Impossible to follow. It is a shame really because that could have been a redeeming quality but the editor ruined it. The acting is okay for the most part but the weak script and incompetent editing really undermine any chance at a good performance. I’ve seen the gentleman who plays Ip Man in one or two other things and he is actually quite good. Unfortunately this is one Ip Man movie you can skip and let it be forgotten in the sands of time

I saw all the other Ip Man movies. The preview made me hesitant but figured the others were very good so this one should be too. I was wrong. I watched the first part and realized this is nothing like the others. Very poorly done. A waste of money.

Some good fight scenes but other than that it appeared to be "thrown together."
