Honestly I really liked this movie. David Grohl was very entertaining and held the lead of the movie well. The only detractor was that some of the members of the Foo Fighters are NOT actors and dragged the overall ranking of the movie down for me.

Clearly, people are looking at the title thinking they need to take it seriously. Foo Fighters can’t be as nice as they are without having a moral backbone. The movie’s funny and should be interpreted as a comedy and parody of rock’s reputation dating back to the ‘80s when RUSH = Ruler’s Under Satan’s Hand, Styx backwards Satanic messages and Stairway to Heaven. Get a grip and know that the Foo Fighters don’t worship Satan. They’re the nicest guys and have shown that in reality, opposite of this movie.

Love this film. It’s goofy and gory (in parts). Learning to play an L sharp (lol). Don’t expect Citizen Kane. Nice cameos (Lionel Ritchie made me laugh out loud). A little bit of a Tenacious D vibe with horror. John Carpenter makes a special appearance. Highly recommended.

If the Foo Fighters’ music videos were the appetizer, then Studio 666 is the main course. First off, I need to say something up-front: I’m not a huge horror fan, aside from a few exceptions. But considering I’m a “Foo Fan”, I had to check this out. It was worth it. Considering how long this movie has been out, you most likely already know the plot details, so I’m just gonna run through the pros and cons of this quirky film. The Pros: It’s definitely got that Foo Fighters humor present in their videos, so hardcore fans are certainly in for a treat. Dave Grohl promised “hilarious gore”, and that’s exactly what we got; the practical effects (mostly) look very convincing. If the gag reel doesn’t explain how much fun the band was having during filming, I don’t know what will; the corny over-acting just makes you smile. The Cons: One thing that made me give it a four-star rating instead of five is a glaring problem - some scenes drag on too long at certain points. Like way too long. Despite making me laugh countless times, some of the humor is downright immature. Finally, and this is more of a nitpick for me, the ending. I won’t spoil it, but despite expecting how it ended, I was still disappointed that it was left hanging in the air. I know horror movies aren’t known for happy endings, but it just kinda irked me. In summary: Studio 666 is a wild, funny, often bloody experience for fans of the band or horror in general. Just be prepared for the dragged-on length.

It’s exactly as campy as you’d expect, and thoroughly enjoyable. Nothing profound here, the scares are more gory than scary, and it’s like a Richard Pryor show for use of profanity, but that works with the overall tone. Clearly, the band is having a blast, and that shows through enhancing the experience. I only gave it four stars because if you aren’t a Foo Fighters fan, this probably wouldn’t appeal to you. Also, don’t expect new songs here. Due to the nature of the plot (no spoilers) there is really only one new song here, so to speak. You’ll see why that is when you watch the movie.
  • Love Foo!

People are idiots these days, they think every campy number and image is a “symbol” of devil worship. It’s supposed to be a campy horror movie. RIP Taylor, you were and are a legend. Much love to your Foo fam, and your family during this heart wrenching time.

Not worth more than $0.99. Bland, boring, and forgettable. Belongs in a Walmart bin.
  • Honestly this looks like it was a lot of fun to make

A silly and wild movie that shouldn’t be taken so seriously and will give you good laughs throughout the movie. Tarantino would be proud with how graphic it is lol definitely humorous and was bittersweet to see Taylor. #riphawkins
