Description

Based on a true story, Father Stu is an unflinchingly honest, funny and uplifting story about finding purpose in a most unexpected place. After surviving a terrible motorcycle accident, Stuart Long (Mark Wahlberg) wonders if he can use his second chance to help others find their way — and leads this former amateur boxer to the surprising realization that he is meant to be a priest. Despite a devastating health crisis and the skepticism of Church officials and his estranged parents (Mel Gibson and Jacki Weaver), Stu pursues his vocation with courage and compassion, inspiring not only those closest to him but countless others along the way.

Not a comedy or action movie, but something that gets you to think. If cgi is the only thing that entertains you, this aint the movie for you. movies like this don’t play well in your mom’s basement anyways.

Mark was awesome in his character. To see him transform his body through the movie!! took a whole lot of work and dedication to play that roll. Great job Mark!!!

I would ignore the bad reviews, they’re just upset they made bad life choices and they can’t reverse their father’s disappointment in them. The film was poignant and touching. The theater gave a standing ovation and many were brought to tears around me. Objectively the best film I’ve seen all year.
  • Stale and Boring

I read somewhere that this was a comedy and went into it expecting some laughs. This is nothing but a stale, boring drama about a person who's life is not interesting enough to merit a phamplet, let alone a movie. I turned this off after 30 min of trying to like it. I like Walberg, but his character was so uninteresting. I don't care what I missed and what happened. If I have to suffer through another hour for some glorious ending, not worth it. Save your money and wait for it to be free on another platform. It should be there soon.

This movie has stayed with me a long time. It has a beautiful message. Skeptics may not appreciate it, but if you view it with an open mind, you may find it inspiring as I did. Now more than ever we need uplifting messages, reason to hope and heroes who win by courage and love rather than violence.

Ignore all the bad reviews. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE!!! I almost didn’t watch it because of the reviews. After viewing the film I can only say the negative reviews must be from non-believer’s. This film is suitable for all audiences and sends a strong message about courage and strength with a touch of humor.

…another evangelical nut-job who seems more like a snake-oil salesman, than any character actor. pretty bad casting here; writers failed at studying subject matter. this story deserves so much more than this dingdong attempting suffering. complete miss on casting. i think those who buy the fascist made pillows will like this crap.
