Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke, in the most disturbing role of his career, stars in a new psychological thriller from Blumhouse and the director who brought you Sinister and Doctor Strange. Finney, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer (Hawke) and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer's previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.

  • Great movie

I thought this was a great thriller. Kept me on my toes. Ethan was super creepy throughout the entire movie, and the kid definitely understood his assignment.
  • No way are these positive reviews real

    By H.. P..
Not one single scare, very, very weak plot (a million plot holes) ULTRA genaric charcters, very weak acting...overall just ridiculous. Note to self if Blum is involved do not waste your matter how many good "Reviews" there are. T

Not worth $20 for sure! You can watch it free on Peacock!
  • I enjoyed it

It was good not the best however it gave me anxiety when watching it for the first time which I like in a film. People with low reviews just don’t understand the movie.
  • So good.

This movie was really good. It’s not jump in your seats scary but with its own flair it’s scary. Acting was very good. You just waited for the next element to play out. It’s worth the money.
  • Creative

It is suspenseful, gory, and well done movie, Ethan Hawke rocked the role of a sadistic killer! And the child actors wow😱that’s a amazing talent to have! Finney has played an amazing role and the ending on how he got revenge amazing! It’s such a creative movie! It’s a bit gory but also the fighting and the creativity with it! I like robin he’s such a supportive friend:) especially the part where he taught finney how to fight it was heart-warming and epic!!! I highly recommend this movie!.
  • Total Rip-off

    By drthorn2017
This movie, and the descriptions and so-called reviews and $25 price, are, in our very experienced and honest opinion, a total ripoff. We are done relying on reviews of movies in the iTunes store and Rotten Tomato, as they are both unreliable. Hawk is only a minor character in terms of screen time and the plot, a disconnect phone on the wall that rings and lets the victim to be talk to prior victims and …….stupid, stupid, stupid.
  • My thoughts

    By Need snore towers
Pretty good, more suspenseful than gory like I figured seeing the description. It is almost a little too much like the book. The acting was brilliant and I enjoyed Ethan hawke’s performance especially. I felt the kid did better than I was expecting going into it. There is no sister in the book but I liked the added changes.
  • Watch worthy

Goes well with the mainstream “stranger things” theme. Small town, best friends, bicycling… It was not as “horrific” as I had imagined at first. Not very many gruesome scenes until the very end. Some good comic relief provided for by the younger sister and the grabber’s brother. Great acting! Great cast. All in all, I definitely recommend!
  • Good

Good movie. Definitely feel a prequel coming at the very least. Wouldn’t mind seeing a direct sequel picking up where the first left off also.
