Description

The whole world is looking for a hero, and it's up to a little pigeon named Valiant to step up and bravely serve his country. Valiant (Ewan McGregor) and his fine, feathered friends take to the sky on a wing and a prayer to prove that it's not your wingspan but the size of your spirit that truly counts. Together this rag-tag squadron of birdbrains engages in hilarious aerial adventures at a spitfire pace. From the first bumbling day of basic training through the final feather-raising mission, the flock of comical characters swoops their way toward victory. From the producer of Shrek and Shrek 2, Valiant delivers stunning animation, a top-flight voice cast, and an action-packed story loaded with laughs. It's a soaring family comedy that truly earns its wings.

I saw this five days ago and cannot, will not, forget it. Why is everybody dumping on it? Valiant is, well, a VALIANT movie!!! I love his mom ("You were such a cute little egg") I love that line. It is enough to rent it if you are seeing it for the first time, then buy it the second viewing around. The only reason why I have not bought this yet is because I had bought Alpha and Omega (also a very good movie) the day before. The $14.99 is worth it, really. The characters are funny, the animation is great, and I really, really recommend it. Valiant (the pigeon) is so cute. A must-see! I do not care if you hate this movie, but give it a try and you will positively love it. Really. I am not joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this was priced at 9.99 which was ok for me to buy so my GRANDSON could watch it. It is not an adult themed cartoon but meant for kids in my opinion. So I don't understand why it was being assessed as for an adult. Of course it would be "lame" for adults - it's for kids. And a lot of kids don't comprehend "political correctness". It is overpriced for 14.99. If you haven't seen the movie then you didn't read about all the animals awarded medals during WWII. All the kids that have seen this movie at our house want to watch it over and over. Keep in mind this is a kids movie.

This movie was good. I like the historical plot. It's just so unfortunate how underrated this film is. SO much better than chicken little (ugh.)
  • Formula Disney with catchy adult oriented music

Unfortunately this is another out-of-the-can-formula flick left over from Eisner's days at the helm of Disney. (Truly dark days at Disney) What could have been an opportunity for Disney to "strut their stuff" turned into a hodgepodge mess of half hearted jokes drawn from old 40's alien films, 50's serials and 70's-80's music. Clearly meant to drag parents to the movies so their toddlers would drool over the eye-candy of 3D film without ever having to suffer through a well thought out plot. Had this been in the hands of the folks at Pixar...well, I would be saying "Move over Toy Story", but, alas, I'm not. That bashing aside, it was better than I had dare hope for. Taken as a children's filmed geared towards the 4yr to 8 yr set it wasn't half bad. I can tolerate repeated viewings with my daughter without needing to vomit. In fact, the music is what keeps this film moving. At least the sidekicks were a part of the overall storyline instead of just comic relief.

I'm going to say this right now, I'm not a fan of Ewan McGregor but he seems to be the only one who actully gives two craps about this movie. The movie does a really sad attempt to tell the story of war from the olden times when pigeons were used to send messages. And according to this movie, pigeons are the smallest birds in the world because the pigeons in this movie look like mouses compared to a hawk. Your kids will probably enjoy it, if they care about war, birds, or animated films but for the adults, just stay away. A very solid C on this film.
