Description

Oscar® winners Dustin Hoffman (Best Actor, 1980, Kramer vs. Kramer), Susan Sarandon (Best Actress, 1996, Dead Man Walking), and Holly Hunter (Best Actress, 1994, The Piano) star with Jake Gyllenhaal (The Good Girl) in Moonlight Mile -- an uplifting story of endearing honesty and humor. When Joe Nast (Gyllenhaal) experiences an unexpected loss, he wants to be the man he believes everyone wants him to be -- the dutifully bereaved husband-to-be and the perfect would-be son-in-law to Ben (Hoffman) and Jojo (Sarandon). But then another woman unexpectedly enters his life, and he's torn between fulfilling his new roles and following his heart.

I'm just wondering, why is Ellen Pompeo not mentioned in the "Plot Summary" or "Credits" area on the page?

When I saw this movie a couple years ago, I knew that it would be one of if not my favorite movie. When it comes to acting ability, I judge by how well an actor can convince me that he or she is the character they are portraying, that is, that I'm not reminded of any of their other roles. That being said, everyone in this movie performs dynamically, carrying off a truly thoughtful, touching movie. Although the plot does revolve around the death of a young girl and how her family reacts, its managed to be portrayed in a light that no only shows us there is no real "way" to grieve, but with a touch of real humanity. Adding to the film is a great soundtrack that only enhances the style. On a side note, I thought that Ellen Pompeo did an amazing job in this movie when I first saw it, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that she was carrying the lead of Grey's Anatomy when the show first came out. Anyways, an amazing movie, sure to be no regrets after you watch it.

a beutiful script and an even more beutiful cast: moonlight's crew has so much heart and talent that you feel that you could've possibly knew each and every character. Even though this is one of jake gyllenhaal'sleasrrecognized roles(next to jarhead and brokeback mountain) it is still great so if you have the money, buy it!! (ps- plus, jekey g is so friggn' adorable!!!!!)

This sweet little family "dramady" teaches us lessons about dealing with the loss of a child or any family member. Through masterful performances from Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandan the viewer sees there is no right or wrong way to handle one's grief when a child is taken at a young age. You have to go on living and accepting tragedy in your own way. Jake Gyllenhaal's quirky take on his "future son-in-law" role is captivating and charming and lends well to the plot twist contained in the story. Sad, touching and always entertaining! A must-see for a good laugh and a good cry!
