This is a good movie. The "truths" of the story really are about the Roman empire in Britain and the Anglo-Saxon migration around that time period. Fuqua ties in the Arthur legend with this time period to sell a plausable history for King Arthur.

I’m curious, I want to buy the movie, but I want to know if this is the director’s cut

I was very disappointed that they cut out a lot of good parts in the movie! Was not happy about that
  • Not the Director’s Cut! buyer Beware

This is not the R-rated Director’s Cut version of the film, despite the listing indicating otherwise.

I don't know which version of the movie this is on iTunes, but I've seen both the standard edition and the Director's Cut. See the Director's Cut. It has several sub-plots that were wiped out of the release version and which render the release version too simplistic, while the Director's Cut is rich and riveting.

This is a wondrous retelling of the Arthur stories. It is thoughtful, inspiring, surprising. There are scenes in this movie the likes of which I have never experienced—what happens on the ice will take away your breath. It is beautifully filmed: the scenes with snow and smoke especially riveting. Max Zimmer's haunting and beautiful music score is a fitting acompanianment to the story. Congratulations to the actors for their superb performances. Clive Owen transforms into a king in this movie, and he is every inch the Arthur of legend. Congratulations to the writers, producers and directors of this movie: it is a triumph, and a welcome addition to the canon of Arthur, and his Knights of the Round Table.
  • Which version??

Is this the PG-13 theatrical version or the Unrated Director's Cut version? It says here that it's "rated R," but an R-rated version of this film DOESN'T EXIST. It'd be safe to assume that this means it's the Unrated Director's Cut; HOWEVER, it says here that the runtime is 2 hours and 5 minutes, which is the exact length of the PG-13 THEATRICAL cut. So... which is it??

I think this movie and story telling wanted to be and FEEL epic but it missed something. The cast is great but there is an emotional element or connection lacking in this film in my opinion. While its not a terrible movie, it moves slowly… it feels partially hatched unfortunately.
