What a tremendous story of authentic friendship. The power of the overlooked and outcasts in their community. The unconditional love of a mother, her kindness and caring for her emotionally adopted son Simon, and the odd ball but genuine step in father figure. But what I loved most was the pure and honest relationship Simon had with God, how he never gave up on the identity God gave him as a hero when everything visible and earthly pointed out his weakness and lowly stature. a must see feel good flick

Great movie. As the younger brother of a boy with a disability, this movie speaks for life. The constant idea of god having a plan for us, sexual parts, and an idea of equality between all persons creates a heart warming effect. The added humor is a major plus as well. Saw it for the first time yesterday, and convinced a teacher to let us watch it in class while studying social conflicts. Amazing and worth it!

I saw this film for the first time while "Titanic" was still playing at the box office. Being a typical teenager filled with testosterone, I didn't show any appreciation for Birch and the disability which made him unique and special. I'm fortunate enough now that art is part of my everyday life and I cry every time Birch closes his eyes. This film will open your eyes to the beauty of life.
