Description

Roselyn Sanchez (Rush Hour 2, TV’s “Without a Trace”) and D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge) star in this romantic drama about a young dancer who travels from her native Puerto Rico to the Big Apple in search of a new life after the death of her crippled father, once a great ballet star in New York City. Upon her arrival in New York, with no job and nowhere to live, Amaryllis (Sanchez) turns to working in a strip club to make ends meet. Amaryllis quickly creates a new family in New York by befriending an older man in her building, a washed-out poetry professor named Miles Emory as well as her co-workers at the strip club. Increasingly desperate, Amaryllis seriously injures herself during a performance one night at the club, only to be saved by Christian (Sweeney), a doctor in the audience. Miles’ poem “Yellow” inspires Amaryllis to seek a Broadway dancing job and her emotional connection to Miles helps to give him a reason for living that eluded her father. As Amaryllis’ relationship with Christian turns into a love affair, she must make a choice between the security of his love and following her dream.

Roselyn Sanchez is one of the most beautiful women ever...she is a pretty decent actress and I have loved her in most of her TV appearances but this movie was pretty disappointing and borders on 'B' movie status...the dialogue was boring and the storyline was pretty drab....not too mention has been told over and over in other movies....down on her luck dancer trying to break into the world as a professional....finds love...while trying to fulfill her dream...sound familiar? Flashdance...Showgirls...etc.. The only endearing fact is that it has a cast of recognizable actors...NOT all stars......and we get to see Ms. Sanchez...almost totally nude. I read one of the reviews that complained of it being in Spanish....that is because they are speaking Spanish in the beginning...and is not throughout the movie...it is the story of a latina dancer....what did u expect?
  • THIS MOVIE IS IN SPANISH AND WILL NOT PLAY IN ENGLISH!!!!!!!!

All paying customers...please be advised that THIS MOVIE IS IN SPANISH and your ITUNES SETTINGS FOR PLAYBACK DON'T AFFECT THE LANGUAGE. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ENCOUNTERED THIS AND FIGURED OUT A WAY TO LISTEN TO THE MOVIE IN ENGLISH (AS INDICATED UNDER THE MOVIE COVER IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THIS PAGE) I WOULD BE GREATFUL FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. I have ensured all of my ITUNES settings are correct and have even tried to play the movie in different programs to see if I could change it from Spanish to English that way but had no luck. Besides losing $10 I really wanted to see this movie. Any assistance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, A disappointed and frustrated customer

I rented this mvie at Blockbuster while in Miami... I was so entertained that I am going to buy it as soon as I get an Itunes card for my Birthday! this is a movie worth seeing, especially if you are a dancer/ enjoy dancing or, and are a athirst to make life happen! This movie is a flashdance of the our time with an enjoyable latin ethnicity added to the mix! It is a fabulous movie; risky, romantic, compasionate and bold.
