Description

A growing number of Evangelical Christians believe there is a revival underway in America that requires Christian youth to assume leadership roles in advocating the causes of their religious movement. JESUS CAMP follows Levi, Rachael, and Tory to Pastor Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire" summer camp in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, where kids as young as 6 years old are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in "God's army." The film follows these children at camp as they hone their "prophetic gifts" and are schooled in how to "take back America for Christ."

  • So bad it might as well be called a comedy film

I originally watched Jesus Camp on Netflix, and let me tell you: as someone who believes in God, this absolutely terrified me. But the worst thing about this movie was about how these kids were crying over breaking mugs with a hammer and bottled water. It's a giant mess, and the scenarios sometimes are so extreme, it actually makes you wonder if this was scripted. I've watched it several times however, just because of how insane these people are, making kids into brainwashed soldiers. It's one of those movies where you're thinking, "Please God help those poor kids." It's cringey and dramatic, and it shows how religion can become a bad thing when interpreted badly.
  • Scary and just plain sad

It's scary and just plain sad that the biggest threat to Christianity is not the inevitable temptation and sin that is running amok in the world, but the overzealous, ignorant types of Christians that brainwash or try to control people with fear, guilt, their warped agendas, and that just plain scare everyone away from attending church in the first place. These camp people in the film are just freaking crazy! Unfortunately, these are the so called Christians that get the most media attention and that distort everyone's view of Christianity. There are actual Christians that are intelligent and that show Christ's love through their love for others. But they are not media worthy.

So many mistakes with this movie... 1. Only men can preach the word of God through mass (priests). 2. Church was meant for church and stadiums for basketball games and rock concerts. Period. 3. If these kids wanna worship God, let them do it naturally and don't force them. I'm 14 and chose to be Catholic. If I felt like it, I could be atheist, but I don't want to.

This message the adults are teaching these children is not from God. This message is from Man. People around the world need to understand this. "Raise your hands if you are willing to give your life for God" is a quote from the movie. Americans call radical muslims terrorists. What do muslims call radical Christians?

Yes Lord! Release another revival! Raise up Your army! An army of humble lovers of Christ! As the nations rage against Christ, the One who died for their sins, and grows in wickedness, let there be those who's hearts are faithful to the worthy Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! Your presence is what we want, Jesus! Let the earth be filled with Your glory!
  • The same as their "enemies"

The actions shown in this film are frighteningly similar to the Taliban's. They brainwash and train children to follow beliefs they may not yet comprehend, in that they are "unable to choose their belief system after childhood, so they must be brought up in Christian values." the children are then trained to hate other religious beliefs (Islam) as their enemy and must become part of an army to fight and expel them. The elderly women in the ad (Becky Fisher) claims the islamics are giving children grenades where as her camp is doing the same, they may not be real grenades but they are still giving children weapons of the mind, that can be even more devastating, to wage war against other religions. The word "brainwashed" could not have found a better place to be defined.

I just saw the preview and it just scares me. They are being taught wrong. But to each their own. Religion is what's wrong with the world.
