Great actors, a great story, and great scenery equals a great classic movie.

Gonna watch the movie again tonight, because of the dueling banjos scene and we don’t have credible actors anymore like Burt and John.
  • A canoe trip?

In this movie directed by John Boorman from the book written by James Dickey, we have a story involving four meek suburbanites from Atlanta who by all reasonable accounts, want to take an innocent canoe trip before the Cohulawassee river gets dammed. The most adventurous of the bunch, Lewis Medlock played by the late, great Burt Reynolds, inquires on where he may find some drivers to drive their vehicles to Aintry. He’s directed to the Griner brothers and one of em asks, “why do you wanna F around with that river for? Lewis replies, “because it’s there!” Griner says, “it’s there alright, you get in it and can’t get out, you wish it wasn’t.” Thus begins an odyssey involving four men out of their element battling the forces of nature and a surprise encounter with a few hillbillies with every fibre of their being and Ed Gentry played by John Voight, transforms from a civilized and mild mannered person into a wild and formidable opponent to survive! There are many themes running throughout this movie. Much thought went into its production and the author James Dickey was on set to make sure that his book came to life. One of my favorite movies and the cinematography is truly amazing! This is back when real movies were made and studios were not afraid to offend their audiences. If you are easily upset, I suggest reading the Book by the same title first. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars!

Not sure how this won so many awards. Waste of my time! Who cares if it’s one of the first films that has male rape in it. Not sure why people like this film

A film that makes you think twice about treating areas you don’t respect as your personal playground.

This is a spectacular film about the folly of adventure-seekers slamming into the risk and consequences of eminent domain foisted upon rural locals. Watch this right after Wild...

Most disturbing movie of the 70's but still a good movie. The ending was scary.
