I come and watch the preview of this amazing, captivating story, of 18th century England, and it's treacheries and hypocrisies of English society. The life in those times, to watch and immerse myself in history, plus i love Hillary Swank, she is a fascinating, incredible actress, in everything she does. Including this, and i have not seen the film, but the trailer was enough, i like movies where women are empowered. I don't give much attention to Rotten tomatoes all the time, because i know that critics reviews are --( all about the money and media and who deserves what) .So i want to check out what the people think, and everybody is making a scandal and a fuss about breasts!! Gosh! I thought America had grown up, of it's puritanical stupidity! its the 21st century, a breast is part of life literally! and everything that comes in between as well. To degrade a high level actress such as Swank, and this apparently incredible movie, because of a breast is beyond childish. I cannot think of a word, perhaps ridiculous! for even children wonder about their sexuality! and touch their parts in absolute beautiful innocence it is their parents that somehow infuse them with some kind of fear regarding their parts- then they wonder why they have miserable lives later on-- gosh can someone review the quality of the movie and stop talking about breast politics! Thanks

Swank is not terrible in this. She is a touch miscast however. Her look and manners are rather too modern. This rather stands out since pretty much all the other women in the film (particularly the actress) look and act very period. Simon Baker is O.K. but I don't buy him as a schemer for a moment. His boyish open face betray him as being capable of no scheme more diabolical than a school boy setting off stink-bombs under the teacher's desk. Of course, Price is brilliant but then you can see him being brilliant in any movie. Certainly doesn't have to be this one. No, the only reason for me to buy and watch this movie for a second time is Brody as the delightful schoundrel Count Nicolas De La Motte. There was more sexualilty in his consumption of sweets than in whole love scences between Swank and Baker. Buying this movie after renting it is like buying Lady Chatterley's Lover after checking it out from the Library. You watch it through and then buy it to bookmark the good bits.

I am laughing here reading the reviews of the people who, for some reason, let their children watch an R rated movie and then are surprised at seeing a breast. Seriously, maybe you need to take the time to LOOK AT WHAT IT SAYS RIGHT BENEATH THE PICTURE OF THE COVER OF THE MOVIE! It reads, and I quote, "Rated R for some sexuality." Maybe someone needs to get hooked on phonics. And once you do that, you'll be able to read some books on parenting!
  • What a waste of so much talent.

So many great actors and such a terrible movie! The story was terrible, the dialog was awful and the director must have slept through making this. I just don't understand why this monstrosity was even made. Hillary Swank should definitely stick to using her own accent cause she was the worst thing about this movie, and I usually really enjoy her movies. And Simon Baker is such a wonderful sight to behold and he sucked. Avoid this movie at all costs.

I watched the review for a glimpse of the afore mentioned breast but didn't see it. Shoot. And oh, God Forbid a CHILD should see a bare breast. The horror.

I have just rented this film. I had wanted to see it for many years, but I was put off on the reviews of Hillary Swank being miscast in the role. After reading the one star review against the film based on a breast being shown in a preview, I decided to make sure that itunes knows that I stand up against right wing censorship. For too long I have just stood by and have dismissed these kind of comments as ignorant and small minded. Now I see the repercussions for my silence. No more. What the right wing moralists do not realize is that you have finally unleashed my voice too. The body, the breast, is not immoral. Let me make this loud and clear: Stop forcing your just for kids morality on to me, my family, my community. We do not want it, and thanks for giving me a chance to give me my voice too.

This movie is a must see if you like life at court 18th century type films. I personally love to see the politics played by people at court and the love games played. And for those who have demonized the woman's breast in the previews: get a life. Women's breasts are beautiful and are one of the first contacts of a mother and her child... it's a positive association for children. Leave it like that!
