I felt the notation in my veins and felt the aggravation towards slamming the door at my Ex’s face after he cheated on my with his long time childhood... Whatever she’s called. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door. He can keep the apartment for all that I care. I quickly pushed the elevator button. Ding! I took a step inside and pulled my cellphone out of my purse. “Going down?” “Excuse me?” “Which floor?” “Oh, ground floor...” The man softly chuckled. “Problem?” He shook his head. “No. Not at all.” He responded. “That’s the same floor that I’m going to...” “Right.” I rolled my eyes as I began to text my friend, Abigail. I flicked my jet black hair off my shoulder. “Isn’t everyone?” I muttered. “I’m sorry.” He said. “I didn’t mean to offend you or anything.” I sighed. “No. You didn’t do anything to offend me.” I told him. “I’m just not in the mood for a conversation. And I suggest that you should respect that.” “Well... I just thought that you needed a friend to talk to.” He informed me. “I’m Tony, by the way.” “Melanie.” I responded. “Melanie Moon.” We shook each other’s hand. His hazel green eyes reflected through his friendly smile. I softly chuckled before everything turned silent. “You know for an artist. You’re not ratchet as the rest.” I said, breaking the silence. “Ratchet?” He asked as he docked a brow. “Ratchet, like, not as opinionated as the rest.” I informed him. “That’s a good thing, in my book.” I plopped my cellphone back into my purse. “Um... it’s simple really. I knew this guy once. His an actor. An artist, but. He let his opinions be his guide and didn’t left them at home. His name’s Dillon Graves. When I met him, I thought that he was a teacher’s pet. I never liked those kind of people. They’re not my crowd so to speak.” Tony lightly nodded. “Yeah...” He said. “I can agree with you on that one. He and I used to date back when I thought that he committed but it turned out that he was a jackass, y’know.” “It’s a good thing that you dodged that bullet, Tony.” I told him. “Oh, and never forget that those who can’t handle bad press. Teach! There’s no such thing as bad press. Only those who can’t handle the publicity, it brings.” “Thanks, I guess.” “I’ll see you around.” I said as I left the apartment building and into my Lyft.
  • Weird and totally dated concept

There are two of the greatest songs in the history of musicals in this film but it has a totally bizarre premise that is definitely not PC, namely the training of young French girls to be the secret concubines of wealthy married men. While there is no skin involved whatsoever, I'm surprized that the U.S. censors of the time allowed this to be made.

This movie is rated highly due to the fact that most Americans have not A: read Collet's original story And B: Seen the original French movie version.

Weak story, songs, and singing. Lacks wit. Relies on the comedy of mismatched manners and styles. About what you’d expect from 1958’s constricted social conservatism.

  • ONE OF THE MOST OVERRATED FILMS

A musical?? Don't make me laugh. Not one of the lead actors in this flop of a movie could carry a note. And if you listen closely, you'll notice that they are not, in fact, actually singing- just talking through the lyrics while music plays in the background. I generally am a great fan of musicals, but this one doesn't even qualify for the genre. No one in my family could tolerate it - and we all have a pretty high tolerance. It takes everything tacky and bad from movies of this era (late 50's) and wraps it all up in one big gaudy plaid package with a big red bow. The "plot" itself is hardly there, being loose-jointed, clunky, repetitous, and pretty darn offensive. It's a weird little film with weird little people doing weird little things. For good musicals with good acting and - gasp! - MUSIC, my top recommendations are: The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, An American in Paris, and any of the Astair/Rogers films.

  • A Perfect Musical.

Despite the fact that most of the actors in this musical can barely carry a tune, this movie is still perfection! The power of the movie lies in the gorgeous music, engaging story line and excellent script, great cinematography, and exceptional performances by the actors. I adore this film.

this is one of my favorite movies! i like a variety of movies, including musicals and this one is at the top of my list besides Mary Poppins and Cinderella! If you like old musicals, this is the one for you.
  • Should be required viewing for all kids today

There's a charm and refinement captured in this film that seems to have disappeared from the world--You can recapture it here. It's just a superb little film with superb cast and crew, soft, cultured, silly, fun --the broadway musical at its best captured on film.
