Description

Ashton Kutcher stars as a man who has lost track of time. From an early age, crucial memories have disappeared into a black hole of forgetting, his childhood marred by terrifying events he can't remember. What remains are the ghost of a memory and the terrifying broken lives of his childhood friends ... and an awareness that, somehow, he's responsible in The Butterfly Effect. Throughout his childhood Evan Treborn (Kutcher) was under the care of a psychologist, who encouraged him to keep a journal. Now in college, Evan reads his journal and finds himself thrust suddenly, inexplicably back in time. Determined to correct the tragic events of his youth, Evan alters the past in hopes of transforming the present. But every time Evan makes a change, he returns to a present transformed by unexpected and disastrous consequences of his actions.

The story doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but it makes a good guilty pleasure movie.

Great movie.... but the the Director’s Cut is a far superior version. This version’s ending is cheesy and just garbage 🤮 Hope they make the DC available some day.

Is the REAL ending and the one that makes sense and played with the original release of this film. Incredibly heart-wrenching and sad ending but great movie!!! I think this Ashton Kutchers best performance.
  • No director’s cut in extras?

This is a phenomenal movie. The director’s cut is much better, and if it was included, I’d give it 5 stars. However, even without the far better director’s cut ending and other additional scenes, this film is still well worth your time.

Immediately regretted it when this wasn’t the director’s cut. Why it’s not included; is absolutely terrible. Directors cut butterfly effect is a 5 star from me. This one is not good. Do not buy this!

I saw this first on DVD and it has a much different (and in my opinion better) ending. The ending made the whole movie for me. When I got it in iTunes I see it’s the theatrical version but there’s no selections for the directors cut. I don’t even see the directors cut on iTunes. Guess I can’t throw away my DVD collection just yet!

This one took me by surprise. I ended up really likng this, very unexpected. The director's cut ending is better than this theatrical version, though.
