It's a great girly movie that touches on a lot of points without needing a single male actor - genius. They don't make movies like this anymore, and they really should! Not sure why there are so many bad reviews...

It lost a star because of the annoying 13 year old. "Oh my gosh thats 5 points!" "I smoke so I won't eat." She's acting like just another teenager who feels bad for themselves. I wanna punch the TV!

I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews. I (as a woman) have never truly been able to have any close relationships with other women, and yet I still enjoyed this movie. I thought it was a fairly realistic portrayal of female relationships and I also thought it had a fair amount of witty dialogue. I attempted to watch the 1939 movie once, and could not make it past the first few scenes because the women were just too mean and catty. I don't find woman-bashing fun , and I think that this movie nicely portrays the constant underlying jealous tension in female relationships without being too mean in the process.
