Lee Marvin at his very best. Marvin stars as a maverick Army Major who is just bold enough to pull off one of the craziest Special Ops missions ever. The story line is really out there. Take a bunch of prisoners sentenced to death or practically life in prison and go behind the lines to kill a bunch of German officers in order to disrupt the chain of command and create confusion amongst the german high command during the invasion of Western Europe. Forgetting the outlandish premise, the story is quite good and Marvin has never been better. Lee Marvin makes this movie. This performance tops even his portrayal of Liberty Valance. If you like Lee Marvin or movies about special operations you'll love this one. Two Thumbs up!!!
