Description

After falling in love with a U.S. Army sergeant, an East Berlin boy named Hansel undergoes a sex-change operation so that he can legally marry his beloved. But the operation is botched, leaving the boy less than a man, but not quite a woman. Deserted in a Kansas trailer park, the boy/girl, now named Hedwig, reinvents himself/herself as a rock star.

Love the story and the soundtrack. This movie is so funny and poignant. Seen it a number of times. Never gets old. Addicted to the music.

A laugh-out-loud funny, poignant, tragic, triumphant, sing-a-long adventure of one of the most enjoyably memorable, dynamic, and well-developed characters EVER! The lead-singer and musical genius, Hedwig, relives her backstory through her band’s gigs at suburban strip-mall salad bars throughout middle America. Extremely engaging and my personal #1 favorite film... ever... and I have excellent taste!

The character Hedwig is a great example for anyone especially young, in the LGBT community. What's great about the story is that the character strives to really make something of him/her self, rather than just going around like a victim preaching bleeding sermons to folks who probably wouldn't respond anyway.
  • Hedwig Rawks. Hard.

Being a musician but not a fan of musicals, this movie/musical is probably one of the funniest Rock and Roll movies since This is Spinal Tap. Love or hate it, it’s undeniably entertaining through and through. <3

This movie is phenomenal! I was a bit suspicious at first. When I heard the title I thought it was a Harry Potter spin off novel, but when I heard it was a Broadway show I got pretty excited. Now I can't stop watching it! I can't get over how amazing the music is too. I have the original Broadway album with Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall and I can't stop listening to it!! I really want to be Hedwig on Broadway now! "I'm the new Berlin Wall baby, try to tear my down!"

For anyone who ever sat in their room feeling like a freakazoid loser, consoling themselves that at least they had rock n roll… this one’s for you. This takes those stupid lonely moments and confirms something: yes, this music matters. Your rocking out to it matters. You’re not alone, you’re not crazy, and it’s all going to be OK. And oh man, what an amazing soundtrack… if you are any kind of music lover, SEE THIS.
