Stephen Ashe is a hotshot California lawyer from a well-to-do family. When he wins a case for mobster Ace Wilfong, he invites Wilfong to a party being thrown at his parents' house to celebrate. At the party, Wilfong meets Stephen's daughter, Jan, and they run off together. Stephen attempts to lure his wild daughter away from her criminal boyfriend, but she fights him at every turn. • GREAT if you're a classic movie fan...

...not so great if you aren't. don't get me wrong--this is an amazing film, with some rare, early screen footage of clark gable. but if you're not a big fan of classic movies, im sure you will believe that this movie is way too dated and melodramatic to appreciate it. don't start with this if you want to be a classic film fan, go for some more user-friendly flicks (may i suggest you can't take it with you--which stars john barrymore, who won an oscar for his role in a free soul) however, if you are a classic movie fan, this is absolutly amazing. it stars two hotties of its day--the young clark gable and the beautiful leslie howard, who would both go on to star in the classic gone with the wind eight years later. its brilliant to watch them as young actors before they truly defined themselves. enough of my rambling--on with the movie!
