Description

The zany Marx Brothers turn an operatic performance into chaos in their efforts to promote their protégé's romance with the leading lady. Considered by many to be the Brothers' finest big budget adventure. Co-starring Marxian regular Margaret Dumont ("Coconuts") and Allan Jones ("Show Boat"). A fun-filled musical romp. Inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry and recently selected by the prestigious American Film Institute as one of the top 400 American Films of all time.

If there is any Marx Bros. movie that every person should see it's this one. It is the birthplace of so many sight gags. Basically, anything you see in this movie that is a trope, this is where it came from. There is energy and enthusiasm in every scene. Any film student who has not seen this comedy should smack themselves.

This highly polished gem of a comedy will keep audiences laughing for centuries. The Marxes declare war on the pomposity of the opera world with hilarious results. Not as 'wacky' or 'surreal' as its predecessor "Duck Soup", however, all of the Marx Brothers scenes in this film are tight, fast paced, and road-tested to ensure huge laughs. If you have never seen a Marx Brothers film before, A Night At The Opera will make you a fan for life. (and remember....the correct pronunciation of the oldest brother's first name is CHICK-o, not CHEEK-o.)

A wonderful combination of amazing opera and the hilarious madcap humor that The Marx Brothers are so well known for, A Night at the Opera is a movie that fans of opera, fans of the Marx Brothers, and anyone that simply wants 90 minutes of good laughs will appreciate. Truly a one in a million film.

In my opinion, this is the best Marx Bros. movie. Every time someone says Marx Bros. they think "Duck Soup." But "A Night at the Opera" is a real comedic gem with great sight gags, sharp wit and timing, and incredible musicianship. Unless you've had your funny bone removed, you'll like this one. All the great comedic actors since them were influenced by them.
