Where Eagles Dare

My dad and I used to watch this movie all the time and when I became an adult we would watch it whenever I came home on leave. Great action for its time and Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood really Click together!

Looking forward to watching this epic, I was unable to continue after a 1960s helicopter lands in a 1940’s period movie.

It's amazing how often I speak to WW2 movie fans that haven't seen this film. And let me make two corrections; it's not a great WW2 film, it's a great film. Period. And it's not a WW2 movie. It's a SPY movie set in WW2. Fantastic detailed plot and great acting from a fabulous cast. A must see and wonderful addition to any film collection.

Clint Eastwood must have been still in acting school and Richard Burton appeared still trying to get over his Shakespearean roles … poor acting on one account and over acting on the other account. They shot more bullets and exploded more dynamite than a platoon could carry. Kind’a like the old cowboy movies. Cliches of actors and settings abound (German officer with monocle, curly golden haired SS officer, etc.). Good for some laughs but not a good serious, well done movie. Very, very 1960’s in all respects.

This is a film that defines the WWII action film for the thinking man. Not a philosophical film. Just an exceptionally entertaining into the romantic notions of heroic rescues. My favorite WWII film along with Schindlers, Longest Day and Inglorious Basterds.

My dad was a high school teacher and was in charge of the auditorium. The school would rent movies (reel to reel)back in the day. My dads favorite was "where eagles dare", and he'd bring home the projector and movie & have a movie night !!!! This is a thrilling and action packed movie , seen it 100 times & just got it on blu ray..........

I watched this on the military channel on the show called "a movie and an officer" even though it was so long ( including the annoying ads) i really enjoyed it and really enjoyed the twist at the end

Mystery, scenery, romance, explosions, and the good guys win. Hands down, best war movie of ALL time!

I really don't know why anyone would rent this movie. This classic is sure to please a WWII buff, history buff, Clint Eastwood fan, Richard Burton fan, and or an extreme adventure person. It is one of my favorites. I don't know why, but I always love watching it on snowy days. I guess its because of the scenery!!! Buy it, love it, recommend it!!!

Great movie and great story. Its more of an war-espionage-suspense film than true action movie in the modern sense .. But there's good action scenes. But that makes the characters so much more believable than modern action movies. What sets apart is that it closely follows the book by Alistair MacLean who was a great story teller and draws you so into movie that you will look out you window expecting to see the the snow covered Alps..
