Description

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Niagara Falls, Marilyn Monroe portrays Rose, a femme fatale possessing two of the most powerful weapons: an erotic body and an evil mind. Planning to murder her troubled husband (Joseph Cotton), Rose first uses her double edged sword to drive him the brink of total insanity. Then she seductively torments a series of stranger while her mysterious lover waits in the shadows. Vastly different from her often comedic roles. Marilyn's classic dramatic performance as this diabolical and scheming woman is at once fascination and frightening, painting a powerful portrait of human sexuality and passion.

This film has a very Hitchcock-esque aire to it. Marilyn would've made a great Hitchcock blonde, if she were given the chance. Its suspenseful, and you wanna know what happens next. The Niagara falls is an excellent backdrop to this film. Its hard to watch anything but Marilyn, yet Jean Peters is fantastic to look at too. Story is great.

It's an okay movie and provides a sufficient enough amount of entertainment, but of all the Marilyn movies, it would be low on the list. I recommend one of her comedies, like Some Like it Hot or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes if you're looking for classic Marilyn. However, the backdrop of Niagra Falls was a great choice for the movie and the choice in cast was excellent. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone collecting Marilyn Monroe films, but not to someone just trying to get a feel for her acting or only starting to watch her films.
