IMAX: Under the Sea

The videography of the amazing creations under the sea is of course spectacular. But it can only hold your attention for so long when there’s no real storyline and surprisingly plain narration from Jim Carrey (I expected much better from him!)…it was almost as if he didn’t care about what he was saying. Lastly, I agree we should be faithful stewards of this world we’ve been given, but it always rubs me the wrong way when environmental/political messages get dropped in to family/kid movies like this. Save your money.

First, the cinematography is exception, particularly for underwater films. BUT… If you are going to use science as a basis for educating the public, be aware that one recent (2014) eruption of a volcano in Iceland put out IN ONE DAY more carbon dioxide than man has in the last five thousand years… and we have hundreds of volcanoes that are active on planet earth. Mount Pinatubo, when it erupted, put out more carbon dioxide in the first three days of its most recent eruptive phase than has been produced by mankind since the beginning of the industrial revolution — and that includes all the coal and wood-fed fires in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. What the film failed to state is that coral in the Caribbean is at risk NOT because of global warming, but because of aspergillus which is carried by trade winds from Africa due to agriculture putting the spore-laden dust into the atmosphere, which is carried across the Atlantic Ocean and falls right along the belt which includes most all of the Caribbean. This contamination has been indisputably proven 25+ years ago to be causing the rapid decline of coral in the Caribbean. The same applies to the decline of coral in the Red Sea. The film would have been great without the pseudoscience.

The best movie ever!!!! I loved It and my little sis loved it to she loved the garden eels when that part comes on she dances with them she says... Lol

This is the most amazing, majestic movies no one had ever seen before, it's filled with all sea creatures swimming all over of all different kinds.

But the narration doesn't sound professional for me so I didn't pay attention to it but I still love it and Jim Carey's joke was alright in there.
