Description

After nearly two decades caught under the wing of an aging husband (Alan Arkin), devoted mother and housewife Pippa Lee (Robin Wright) undergoes a midlife breakthrough. Unearthing the sexually curious wild child of her teens (as portrayed by Blake Lively), Pippa sparks a relationship with a kindred soul (Keanu Reeves). Robin Wright delivers a stunning and revelatory performance in Pippa Lee; a wry, moving, and complex portrait of the many lives behind a single name.

Guys - watch out for this one - women whispering, then screaming, then hugging and crying. Dreaming of food chocolate sugar bombs and crying, guilt, sex, more gilt, dead beat men everywhere. The whole thing was built for women by women. Chick flick. Sorry. Some people may like that stuff, it just about killed me. I ended up skimming and it just about killed me anyway. Try as I may, I won't be able to watch it twice. This is the only movie I have reviewed with less than 4 stars...

Nothing spectacular here. Watched it because it looked promising, with a good cast ensemble. Failed though to live up to my expectations. 😏

This film has great acting. Its a bit slow in places and could have had a bit more substance, but still enjoyable.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely not something a teenage boy would like, (or your puerile male reviewer) but I can see women of any age really enjoying this film. I was very pleasantly surprised. Even the end did not disappoint. Nicely told, beautifully acted, with cleverly blended scenes from past to present. Well done! Robin Wright's performance was *amazing*! (I can't believe some of these reviewers! Guess it takes all kinds….)

Ignore all reviews from those who have looked at this as only a movie they rented. You will identify with one of the many characters here - even though the acting is not perfect. Simply make sure you don't become that character. BTW - the movie is painful and probably horrible if you have not yet hit 45… Maybe that should be a new rating not NC 17 but NC 40.

Having never heard of this movie, I was doubtful thought it was bizarre that a movie with enough well-known actors wouldn't be on my radar that came out in the last year. But I loved it! It's twisted and unrealistic and exaggerated and probably not the best acting I've seen but it was definitely enjoyable on a Thursday afternoon. I definitely recommend it.

I thought this movie was entertaining. I would definitely watch it again. Reeves and Wright had an unexpected chemistry that was palpable.

The characters are unlikable and I still get grossed out thinking about the love scene between Alan Arkin and Blake Lively. Not only that, but there wasn't much to hold my attention except for the fact that I paid $3.99 to rent it.
