Three Kingdoms

This movie was way better than I thought it was going to be. You see Zhou Yun when he first joins Lui Bui’s Shu Army and meets (Sammo Hung) who both grew up from the same home village. i won’t say anymore as I don't want to give anything away, but it’s the story of Zhou Yun from the The Romance of the Three Kingdoms story, from a different point of view.

I felt like they started filming this and then the studio said, “hey you need to wrap this up in a week”. The battle scenes were lame and there are parts of the plot that appear to be totally random or thought up on the spot. Editing and pacing was also terrible. It’s always nice to see Sammo … but you don’t really get to see too much of him.

I noticed a lot of negative reviews on here and felt like i should give my opinion on it. Granted, there have been a lot of movies about unifying China and that may be fraying at some people's nerves. Movies like house of flying daggers and Dragon Tiger Gate probably do not help when you want to convince people that Chinese based cinematography can be good. But I watched this movie and instantly fell in love with it. While character development is shaky and some scenes just do not seem to belong, all in all i thought it was a good movie. As an Andy Lau fan, i thoroughly enjoyed his performance. The internal struggles he faces as a general, compounded in the end with the discovery of his friends betrayal and the forgiveness he showed, brought me to tears. This movie in my opinion was not only a beautiful representation of China's history (albeit exaggerated) but on par with The Warlords starring Jet Li, another of my personal favorites. Others may not have liked it, but this is definitely a movie i intend to add to my collection.

It had great actors but much of the true story line was false I did nit enjoy the movie that much and the ending could have been a little better

I wanted to like this movie, but after watching it, I really regretting purchasing it. The dialogue is badly written and the plot doesn't stick with the real story. There isn't much depth to the characters beyond their eyes welling up with tears or looking off into a distant horizon. The narrator of the story starts out strong at the beginning of the film, completely disappears in the middle section, then suddenly re-appears in the last portion of the film. Andy Lau did a good job in acting the part of the main character, Zilong, but the rest of the cast was pretty forgettable. If you are looking or a good movie about this era, then you should probably get Red Cliff instead. It's a superior film to this one.

I kind of have to agree with the 1/5 stars guy, I feel like the movie tried too hard to cram dramatic, emotional and eye-watering scenes into the movie with hardly any character development (they're young men and they go off to war, and then not even halfway through the movie it skips forward 20 years or so and leaves it up to you to assume that character development took place somewhere in there). There were some really cool fight scenes, but not as many as I would have liked. If you like kung fu movies, then you'll probably still mostly enjoy this, like I did, but I have to say that it is probably the most disappointing movie of its genre that I have watched so far.

Wow… every freaking two minutes there was somebody’s eyes all welling up with tears, I mean for crying out loud (no pun intended) I have seen less boo hooing in chick flicks. All in all the story made little to no sense and was just lame…. lame… lame… lame! Unless you want a good laugh, don’t watch this movie.

At first, I thought that this was ANOTHER movie about uniting China and the feudal wars. Although it is about unification, the story line, the characters and fight scenes were good. The dialouge is fair and things that come full circle (central theme) are accomplished and believeable. I enjoyed it and recommend it.
