Description

Meet Fred Flintstone, super spy. He's the kind of guy who'd go down in history, except this is the Stone Age and history hasn't been invented yet. What, you don't know him? You will when you watch the feature-length cartoon spy spoof The Man Called Flintstone. Our man from Bedrock takes on the mission of an injured super agent who looks exactly like Fred. His task: find the arch-baddie Green Goose and stop his world-domination plan. So, pretending to be on a modern Stone-Age family vacation with Wilma, Barney and Betty, Fred wings overseas to Eurock for some wild and woolly-mammoth intrigue. This is one spy caper that won't be finished 'til it's yabba-dabba-done!

From its origins as a primetime sitcom, "The Flintstones" TV series has emerged as a perennial children's classic in decades of reruns, to the point that most of us have grown up on the series. Released to theaters at the tail end of the series' original primetime run, "The Man Called Flintstone" shows how far the series had come in just six years from its origins as an animated version of "The Honeymooners". While the concept of the film (Fred Flintstone as a James Bond-esque secret agent) is interesting, the film (like the TV series in its later years) suffers from pandering too much toward the kids - especially in the musical numbers, many of which slow the pace of the story significantly.

Here is a great cartoon flick that has wonderful songs to boot. Like with alot of old cartoons it may seem dated, but its perfect for children of all ages. I have a young son and I sing him a few of the songs from the movie when it is his bedtime, and he loves it. I am so glad that this movie is on Itunes, so he can see the songs done proper!
