This is a very skilled adaptation one of Le Carre's best books. John writes very complex plots that require a lot of attention, the movie does a wonderful job in letting the viewer enjoy it even after the second glass of wine. George Roy Hill directing a great actor such as Klaus Kinski is a winning combination. It's an old movie - but if you know nothing about counter-terrorism, consider this movie class 101.

For it's time, this was a decent adaptation of a classic novel. Gritty and dark where it needs to be, Keaton sparkles as a pathological liar caught up in a game she doesn't understand. Both "sides" in this conflict are equally dark, each morally compromised, yet the "truths" each side offer Charlie are as relevant today as they were thirty years ago. Perhaps more so, if you're willing to watch this one with an open mind. Highly recommended.
